The purpose of use:Monitoring and mass trapping
Monitoring
-Delta trap can be used.
-Put 1 mediterranean fruit fly pheromone lure per trap.
-Trap density: 1-2 trap/ha. The delta traps must be installed with the aperture facing the main regional winds. Preferably it can be put one in the centre and the other one in the border in the crop.
-Traps should be hang in a south facing tree canopy in the shade at a height of 1.5-1.8 m. Ensure trap entrances remain unobstructed by leaves and branches. The traps should be hung about 45 days before the fruits reach harvest maturity stage.
-Traps start hanging on citrus at the end of June.
-The traps must be checked on a daily basis, and after the first adults have been captured, the traps must be checked every week. Captured insects are removed from traps. The delta trap sticky cardboard is replaced when the number of captures is really high of when the sticky cardboard becomes really dirty from the dust.
Mass trapping
-McPhail trap can be used.
-Trap density: 7-10 trap/da. Traps placed at regular intervals inside the crop and its borders.
-Traps should be hung in a south facing tree canopy in the shade at a height of 1.5-1.8 m.
-Traps start hanging on citrus at the beginning of July.
